Welcome to the ACM Fremont Professional Chapter

The Fremont ACM Chapter serves as a local hub for this global mission. We create opportunities for professionals, students, and technology enthusiasts in the Fremont area to connect, learn, and collaborate. Our chapter organizes hands-on hackathons, expert-led technology talks, and interactive workshops that explore cutting-edge topics such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and cloud computing. We also provide mentorship and networking programs that link members with industry leaders and academic researchers, helping participants grow their careers and launch new ideas. By combining global ACM resources with strong local engagement, we ensure that the Fremont community remains at the forefront of computing innovation.

Part of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Founded in 1947, ACM is the world’s oldest and largest educational and scientific computing society, bringing together over 100,000 members in more than 100 countries to advance the art, science, and practice of computing. ACM is known for its premier conferences, influential research publications, and a global network of professional chapters that drive innovation and share knowledge across every area of computing.

About Our Program Chair

Viswanathan Ranganathan is a Senior Engineer at Netflix, where he owns the deployment platform that governs whether engineering teams across Streaming, Ads, and Gaming can ship software during the company’s highest-stakes moments — major live broadcasts, holiday peaks, and anything else where a bad release would be front-page news. He sets the technical direction for that platform and reports to it directly to senior leadership.

Before Netflix, he led the real-time analytics platform powering Twilio’s messaging infrastructure, a system critical to the business and depended on by customers well beyond the tech industry. He then moved to Atlassian, where he built developer platform tooling that turned third-party service integration from a multi-day process into a few hours’ work, improving efficiency by ~98%.

He holds a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Houston, is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, and a Senior Member of IEEE. He reviews for leading venues in machine learning and systems, including NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, ACM SIGIR, and ICLR. He is a founding member and chapter officer of the ACM Irving Professional Chapter and also serves as Program Chair for the Fremont ACM Professional Chapter.
